For many weightlifting fans, Seine Stowers is still a relative unknown.
That’s about to change. Stowers is 17 and competes at 77 kilograms for Samoa. On Sunday, she squatted 215KG.
“Olivia Reeves is no longer on the top of the pile,” Seb remarked when he saw it, referencing her astounding 227KG personal best from a few weeks ago. Seb’s been giving bite-sized takes on weightlifting news on his personal Instagram. Find him @seb_ostrowicz.
Who else is on the pile?
The New Strongest Women in Weightlifting
Sara Matthew (NGR): Squatted 200KG in training.
Eileen Cikamatana (AUS): Squatted 200KG in training.
Sara Ahmed (EGY): Squatted 210KG during the Islamic Solidarity Games.
Solfrid Koanda (NOR): Squatted 205KG in the Euros ‘25 training hall.
Seb thinks Olivia has been dethroned as the most impressive squatter in Women’s weightlifting. As for Olivia? “Nice—this is what I want to see,” she wrote in response.
Stay tuned. It sounds like there’s a battle on the way.
